Turning right at traffic lights with no green arrow

Ever sat behind a car at a green light, only to wait, wait and wait because the person in front does not see a gap in the traffic? The car behind is getting increasingly annoyed and frustrated with the delay.

Many drivers (learners and long-term license holders alike) are unaware that the law stipulates drivers should move out into the intersection and wait for a safe gap. When the light turns amber the driver can legally finish their turn, this also applies on the red if traffic is still passing through on amber.
