In Queensland – from 1st January 2015 – a cooling off period will apply if you fail your practical driving test.

First Fail
If you fail once – you can re-sit your driving test again on the next day and anytime after that.

Second Fail
If you fail twice – you can ONLY re-sit your driving test again on the 8th day after the second test and anytime after that.

Third and Subsequent Fails
If you fail three times or more – you can ONLY re-sit your driving test again on the 29th day after the third and subsequent tests that you failed.

To Rebook a Driving Test

You can rebook your next driving test before the cooling off period has ended.

Overseas Licence Holders

If you have an overseas licence and you fail the practical driving test, your authority to drive on your foreign licence will be withdrawn. You can use your foreign licence for the next driving test, but it is now illegal for you to drive using your overseas licence.

You will have to apply for a Queensland Learner Licence to have driving lessons and to fine tune your skills for the driving test.
